We use comparative adjectives to compare and contrast two things
We use the preposition than with comparative adjetives:
The old model is heavier than the new one
Forming comparative adjectives
One syllable: adjective + -er
fast------faster cheap------cheaper strong----- stronger
With some one-syllables adjectives the spelling changes:
big------bigger
Two syllables ending in -y: change -y to -i and add -er
easy------- easier happy-------happier
Two syllables or more: more + adjective
Expensive-----more expensive confortable-----------more confortable
Irregular adjectives
good---------better bad------worse
Spelling rules for one-syllable adjectives
1._ When the adjective ends in -e add -r: white---------whiter
2._When the adjective ends in consonant-vowel-consonant, double the last letter and add -er: fat-------fatter, big---------bigger
3._Some adjectives are irregular, e.g., good--------better, bad-----------worse
